Using flash gallery seams nice but there are lots of problems such us Flash doesn't work well with search engines and also cost a lot more and take more time to implement than a jQuery image gallery and YES it needs flash player. So this days most web-designers choose jQuery for image gallery ,slide shows and for lots of functionality.
